It's nice that Winter has given way to Spring and we finally had a 70 degree weekend.
We thought we'd better start the season with a shortish trip just in case we'd lost all fitness over the winter break.
We put in at Cash Creek boat ramp and headed West towards the bay to explore Rake Creek and Sandbank Creek. Rake Creek has a Camp Site and some picnic tables but is fairly short and narrow. And on this day... blocked too.
We maybe could have made it a little further up Rake Creek but we were hungry and keen to get to Sandbank Creek after lunch. The campsite is easily accessible by road although a bit more tricky by kayak - but we made it safe, sound and dry.
Sandbank Creek started off wider than we'd expected and with an 11mph wind we were pleased once we'd made it round the first couple of bends and into some more narrow & sheltered parts.
A couple of video clips getting out of and then back into the kayaks around lunchtime.
The bank doesn't show up quite as steep on the video as it was in real life as we found a couple of good footholds nearer water level to make things a bit easier.
