We loaded up the kayaks and our snorkeling gear and headed to Cape San Blas. We were lucky enough to be able to use the dock at the Old Saltworks to launch from - it's fairly lengthy and after the two long walks in Orlando last month, I'm definitely coming around to the idea of getting some wheels for these kayaks.
Once in, we headed out towards (not to) Blacks Island in search of Scallops.
Snorkeling was so peaceful and so much fun that I'm going to hunt down some other areas we can head off to while the weather's hot.
Scalloping was a first for me. They're just sitting on the bottom of the bay waiting for food to come their way, and I'm sure they don't really care for me grabbing them and turning them into the meal. One small note though... You need a massive amount to make a meal - I thought we'd caught enough for Janet & Zac to get really fed up of them, but after shucking... they only had enough for one meal.
