Even though the sun only came out for brief glimpses, the low 60's felt nice and the clouds (although rather menacing looking) did a good job of keeping themselves to themselves.
20mph winds were forecast for today so we headed back to Ochlockonee River State Park and ventured up Whiskey John (which is not much extra paddling from the boat ramp than Little Tide Creek) as we figured the trees would offer us some shelter.
First day with my new camera... Nice to finally be waterproof.
It was a great trip, Whiskey John is not the longest or widest creek around but it has lots of little side creeks that veer off into the unknown providing lots of fallen trees to do battle with.
All around us was evidence of the recent hard frosts that had hit the area - the very things that stopped us getting out in the kayaks had really taken their toll on some types of the ground cover.
And on the way back to the boat ramp we decided not to use the "Tide Creek" route and paddled out onto the Ocklochonee River - we had to fight wind and waves and next time... well next time I imagine we'll stick to the more leisurely Tide Creek option.
